Currently starring on Broadway as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl!
Julie Sings Jule Styne
Amidst one of Broadway’s most inspiring stories of the past decade, Jule Styne’s music transformed Julie Benko into “the greatest star.” Now, she brings the songs that enchanted her Funny Girl audiences (and more!) to an intimate setting with a celebration of the legendary composer’s remarkable repertoire. Alongside her jazz-pianist husband Jason Yeager, Julie brings her trademark charm, comedic timing, and sterling vocals to her namesake’s songbook, performing such well-loved classics as “Just In Time,” “The Party’s Over,” “Make Someone Happy,” “People,” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” as well as lesser-known gems from forgotten works. With fascinating stories of Styne’s life and reminiscences of how he has unknowingly shaped hers, Julie Sings Jule Styne is a love letter to the bygone days of Broadway from its newest breakout star.
Julie Benko is currently marching her band out on Broadway as the alternate for Fanny Brice in Funny Girl. Named 2022's "Breakout Star for Theater" by The New York Times, Julie has also been celebrated in such national platforms as Time, CBS Sunday Morning, and more for her performance as Fanny. Other Broadway and touring credits include Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables, and Spring Awakening. Of her numerous off-Broadway and regional appearances, favorites include Once (Wilde Award, Best Actress in a Musical), The Fantasticks, Our Town, Bar Mitzvah Boy, Rags, The Golem of Havana, and …Spelling Bee, at such venues as Barrington Stage, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, Weston Playhouse, and more. Her debut album, "Introducing Julie Benko" and newest record, "Hand in Hand” (Club44 Records), a duo effort with her jazz-pianist spouse Jason Yeager, are now available wherever music is streaming. She won the Gold Medal and Johnny Mercer Award at the American Traditions Vocal Competition and placed as a finalist-alternate in the Lotte Lenya Competition. Julie is also a writer: Her first play, The District, was named as semifinalist at the Eugene O'Neill's National Theater Conference, and her first short film, The Newlywed’s Guide to Physical Intimacy, received accolades at film festivals across the globe.
